    Running Out of Credits

    Updated August 9, 2026Swokei

Credits run out mid-campaign sometimes. Here's exactly what happens, what stops, what keeps going, and how to get back up and running quickly.

What happens when credits hit zero

When your credit balance reaches 0, Swokei stops generating new emails for unprocessed leads. Specifically:

    • Stops: Website analysis and email generation for any leads that haven't been processed yet. These leads stay in the campaign in a pending state.
    • Keeps going: Emails that have already been generated (status: Ready or already Sent) continue sending on schedule. Running out of credits doesn't cancel emails that are already in the queue.
    • Keeps going: Follow-up emails for leads already in a sequence continue sending. Follow-ups don't cost credits — only the initial analysis and generation does.
    • Keeps going: Reply detection and classification continue regardless of credit balance.
The campaign doesn't pause automatically when credits run out — it just stops processing new leads. Any leads already in the send queue will finish sending.

How to check your credit balance

Your current balance is always visible in the top navigation bar of the app. For a detailed breakdown of recent usage, go to Account → Billing & plan → Credit history. This shows every credit event — which campaigns used credits, when, and how many — so you can see exactly where they went.

How to get more credits immediately

    1. In the sidebar, click "Account".
    2. Click the "Billing" tab.
    3. Find the "Buy credits" or "Top up" section.
    4. Select a credit bundle size from the options shown.
    5. Click "Buy now" and complete the payment. Credits are added to your balance instantly — no waiting for a billing cycle.
    6. Return to your campaign. The leads that were stuck in pending will now be processed automatically.

How to wait for your billing cycle to renew

If you don't want to buy a top-up, credits replenish automatically at the start of your next billing period. To see when that is:

    1. Go to Account → Billing & plan.
    2. Look for your next renewal date shown in the billing summary. Your monthly credit allocation is added to your balance on that date.
    3. Leads stuck in pending will be picked up and processed automatically once credits are available.

How to upgrade to get more credits per month

If you regularly run out of credits before the end of the month, upgrading your plan is the better long-term fix:

    1. Go to Account → Billing & plan.
    2. Review the plan comparison table and find the plan with enough credits for your typical monthly volume.
    3. Click "Upgrade" next to that plan.
    4. The upgrade takes effect immediately and your new monthly allocation is credited right away.

Do already-sent follow-ups keep going when credits hit zero?

Yes. Follow-up emails are not tied to credits. Once the initial email has been generated and sent (which is what uses the credit), all subsequent follow-ups in the sequence send for free, regardless of your credit balance. Running out of credits does not disrupt any active follow-up sequences.

What happens to leads that were still pending when credits ran out?

They stay in the campaign in a pending state. As soon as credits are added back — whether via a top-up or the monthly billing cycle renewing — Swokei automatically picks up where it left off and processes those pending leads. You don't have to relaunch the campaign or manually trigger anything.

Will Swokei warn me before I run out?

Yes. When your credit balance drops to a low level, Swokei sends an in-app notification and, if enabled, an email alert. You can control which alerts you receive in Account → Notifications. Enabling the "Low credit balance" notification is highly recommended if you run regular campaigns.

How to prevent running out mid-campaign

    • Check your balance before launching. If you have 50 credits and want to run 200 leads, top up first or wait for your billing cycle.
    • Set a score threshold. In the campaign Rules step, set a minimum website score (e.g. 6). Leads with higher-scoring sites are skipped without using credits — this alone can reduce credit usage by 20–40% on a typical list.
    • Estimate your usage first. Count your leads, subtract any you expect will be skipped (bad URLs, high-scoring sites), and compare to your current balance before launching.
    • Use rollover strategically. A slow month where you run fewer campaigns means credits accumulate for the next month. If you know a heavy push is coming, hold back the month before.
    • Monitor team usage. If workspace members are also running campaigns, their usage draws from the same pool. Check Account → Billing & plan → Credit history to see usage broken down by campaign.

Is there a way to see how fast I'm burning credits?

Yes — the credit history in Account → Billing & plan shows every credit event with a timestamp, campaign name, and credit amount. Review it after each campaign to understand your typical burn rate. If you regularly use 1,500+ of 2,000 credits each month, the Pro plan (5,000 credits) will give you more headroom without needing top-ups.

Agencies that let Swokei do the outreach

The main thing I like is that the emails actually have something relevant to say. Instead of sending the same pitch to everyone, I can mention their design, SEO or mobile experience without doing the research manually.

Great tool. I'd recommend Swokei to any web designer looking to get more web design clients.

We were already doing outreach for our web design company, but most of the time we were guessing what to say. Now we let Swokei analyze business websites, find real issues, and turn them into personalized emails we can still send at scale.
    Sanjay Purma
    Director
We run a small web design agency and outreach has always been one of those things we know we need to do but never had enough time for. Swokei made it much easier to keep it consistent.
    Rachel Owens

We send far more outreach than before and it's more personal, not less. That combination just didn't exist for us until this.

One of my employees kept telling me to give Swokei a try. I was pretty skeptical at first, but after using it for a while, it quickly became part of our daily outreach.
